Labway Corp.

Labway Corporation was a Taiwanese peripheral manufacturer first established in 1994. They had a US subsidiary, Labway USA Corp, based in Fremont, CA.

Some of their sound cards used the moniker 'LabSound' instead of Xwave. Labway mostly implemented Yamaha reference designs on their ISA sound cards, based around their excellent OPL3 FM synthesizers. Later cards used the ESS ES1898, Maestro-1, Solo-1, and Allegro chipsets.

For models that supported onboard wavetable synthesis, these came with the low-budget AdMOS QS1000 or made use of software-only synthesis and system memory for samples.

While some of Labways cards appear to be budget-oriented, the A151 we already know to be an incredibly good card for DOS gaming, and for later PCI-based systems, both the Xwave 6000 and Thunder 3D certainly were up to competing directly with more premium Creative Labs' SB Live Platinum cards, and at a lower price point. Also note that most of Labway's PCI cards support all manner of PCI-to-ISA bridge methods out there, so legacy DOS support should be excellent with most of these.
