The XWave Thunder 3D, also known as the A481P2 was a late PCI sound card that supported DirectSound 3D, EAX, Aureal 3D v1.0, Dolby 5.1 surround sound and was AC'97 v2.1 compliant. The card had a PC/PCI header for legacy audio support with a compatible PC/PCI motherboard, as well as DDMA and DMAC (8237) emulation..
Its wavetable synthesizer had no onboard memory, instead able to use up to 8 MB of system memory for samples.
The Xwave Thunder 3D came with a CD-ROM that included Yamaha S-YXG50 SoftSynthesizer, Yamaha XG Studio, Yamaha MidPlug, Yamaha Classic 100, Yamaha Wave Editor, Yamaha SoundVQ (Trial version), Yamaha XGworks (Demo version), and Yamaha YStation32, DemonStar (shareware version), and MediaRing Talk 99 Internet Voice Communication.
