The XWave 6000, also known as the A471-R10, used the same core Yamaha audio chipset as the earlier Xwave, the Yamaha YMF744. This card however, also provided S/PDIF digital optical in and out via two phono connectors on the backplate.
The card also has a 5-pin PC/PCI header for legacy audio support with a compatible PC/PCI motherboards such as those based on the Intel 440BX chipset, as well as a 4-pin header for S/PDIF in/out.
The 6000 Pro was a bundle that also included a 5.1 surround sound daughterboard. This daughterboard used the Sephonix QS7785 to create analogue 5.1 surround sound from a 2-channel source, leveraging QSurround technology. It connected to the Xwave 6000 via the two "Upgrade Connector" headers in the middle of the card. The daughterboard's backplate had connectors for front speaker out (L+R), rear speaker out (L+R), centre/subwoofer speaker out, as well as MIDI-in, MIDI-out, and S/PDIF-out jacks.
There were also two variants called the 6000 Elite and 6000 Elite Value, part number R1X. These used the YMF754.
