The BTC 1817 was a Plug & Play sound card offering 16-bit stereo sound sampling delivered at CD-quality rates up to 44.1KHz. The card is based on the OPTi 82C931 22-voice FM music synthesizer and provides IDE CD-ROM, MPU & MIDI interfaces.

 

Board Revisions

Some variants come with the QS1000 wavetable while others do not.
The 'D' variants had either 3D sound or the option to have 3D sound.
The 'W' variants had wavetable onboard.

BTC-1817D - with 3D sound
BTC-1817DW - with 3D sound and wavetable
BTC-1817DS - standard form factor, 3D sound, no onboard wavetable.
BTC-1817DSL - short form factor with a flying lead for the game port. 3D sound, no wavetable.
BTC-1817W - wavetable, no 3D sound.

Setting it Up

Run SNDINIT.EXE to initialise and configure the card. After configuration is confirmed, run with the /b parameter from AUTOEXEC.BAT.
